Medway set for an exciting summer of cycling

Get on your bike and join in the fun at this year’s Medway Cycling Festival – 8 to 16 June.

The festival takes place over nine days and includes free events and bike rides of all distances, for people of all ages and abilities, from novices to frequent cyclists.

It also marks the start of an exciting summer of cycling in Medway, with Rochester preparing to host the 2019 HSBC UK | National Circuit Championships and the Medway Big Ride on Sunday, 21 July.

Get Pumped!

Saturday, 16 June, 12pm-4pm; Queen Elizabeth Playing Fields, Gillingham.

A free festival at Medway’s new urban BMX pump track with coaching, skills, tricks and races. Helmets required. Limited equipment available to borrow.

 

 

 

 

Evans RIDE-IT Sportive

Saturday, 16 June from 8am; Medway Park, Gillingham.

This non-competitive cycle event is aimed at riders of all abilities. Short (31m), medium (50m) and long (82m) sportive routes start and end at Medway Park and take riders on a tour of Kent. Sign up.

 

 

 

Let’s Ride – adult led rides

Explore Medway on two wheels. A series of free, led rides of various lengths and difficulties will explore Medway’s landmarks, heritage and network of cycle paths during the Medway Cycling Festival. To find out more and book on visit the Let’s Ride website and search for rides in Medway.

 

 

 

 

 

Medway Cycle Action Group and adult lessons

The Medway Public Health Team run year-round cycling groups led by an experienced ride leader. They include routes for all abilities. The team also offers free adult lessons to beginners or people keen to refresh their skills. Find out more.

 

 

 

Circuit Championships excitement

Excitement is mounting ahead of the 2019 HSBC UK | National Circuit Championships which are being staged in Medway on Sunday, 21 July. The UK’s top road racers will do battle on a looping 1.6km course around the heart of Rochester. Find out more.

 

 

Medway Big Ride – Ride the Rochester course

On the day of the National Circuit Championships, you can sign up to ride on the closed road race course through Rochester as well as enjoying a free festival of cycling. Register online now.

 

 

 

Cycle fitness with Medway Sport

If you don’t feel confident hitting the roads, or don’t have access to a bike, you can still enjoy the health benefits of cycling in our sports centres.
