New Dentures:

Acrylic, Chrome, Flexible, Implants and denture sundries:

• Acrylic Dentures: All our Dentures are constructed using Ultra Impact acrylic (Diamond D) scientifically proven to be one of the strongest available on the market today. Our dentures are all contoured to mimic the natural gum and blend into the oral environment. Care is taken to produce a denture that is so natural looking that they don’t look false.
• Partial acrylic dentures: The photos below shows a partial acrylic denture which would be used to replace missing teeth. Ultra impact acrylic is used, the denture base is contoured realistically and quality artificial teeth are used to match your natural tooth colour and shape. Special clips or clasps can be used to retain the denture to stop it moving during function. In addition we now supply a range of new clear clasps.
• Sometimes metal clasps can be too obvious, for example, if they are used on the eye teeth or canines they can be too visible .
  For the most natural look and comfortable fit, choose VisiClear clasps for your partial denture. VisiClear clasps are made from a state-of-the-art thermoplastic material that is light weight,flexible, stain resistant and durable.
• Chrome dentures :These are the “Rolls Royce” of partial Dentures. They are lightweight, hygienic and more comfortable than a conventional acrylic partial denture. Our chrome frameworks are made by a long term local colleague with whom we have an excellent working relationship. We believe that these chromes are of the highest possible quality. Titanium castings are available also upon request.This denture was designed to avoid breakage as the lower teeth bite close to the palate of the upper. All her previous dentures had fractured . The metal runs up to the back of the front teeth therefore avoiding fractures. As you can see the metal work behind the teeth is not visible from the front .
• Flexible dentures: Hypoallergenic, flexible but stable in the mouth. These dentures use the base to grip around the existing teeth to firmly secure the denture. (Flexible dentures not suitable for every case).We can discuss with you at your free consultation if this option would be suitable for you.The denture base is made from a special flexible material, non-brittle and the denture base does not easily fracture. The baseis extended around the existing teeth thus stabilizing the denture, not all of these dentures are suitable for every person.

Dental Implants:

If you have existing implants, we can construct a new dentures directly for you on the premises. If you are considering having implants, we can arrange for a consultation with an implantologist and we will work together on your case. There are many types of implants but the most commonly used are best described as being like a little press stud. The female part is placed in the denture and the male part is placed in the mouth. Implant retained dentures are the most secure dentures and they can be designed to be much smaller than conventional dentures.

Here are some examples of implant retained dentures. There are two methods shown,  the first where to smaller implants are placed in the mouth you can see the female part is set in the denture so it acts a little like a press stud . The second is where a bar is used and again you can see the attachment components in the denture.

Denture Cleaning:

A lot of breakages occur when people are cleaning their dentures as they can be dropped in the sink when brushing to avoid this simply fill the sink with water and this will break the fall if the dentures are dropped.

When your dentures are not being worn it is important to keep them moist so store them in a Glass or pot filled with plain water.

Use special paste designed especially for dentures, not toothpaste, as toothpaste is mildly abrasive and can cause minute scratches on the denture surface which in turn can attract bacteria.

If denture tablets are used to disinfect your dentures do not soak them overnight in this solution as this can deteriorate the acrylic if overused.

It is best to leave your dentures out at night to keep the tissues in your mouth healthy. Some people do not like to remove the dentures in front of their partners, if this is the case then we suggest a bath time regime were you remove your dentures whilst you are in the bath or when your partner is out of the house for a while so that the tissues in your mouth can rest.

Never superglue your dentures if they break always get them professionally repaired. Superglue can be harmful and can damage them beyond repair if stuck incorrectly.

We can clean, polish and disinfect your dentures with special denture chemicals. Cleaning products are available to purchase from us.

It is important to be more vigilant with your oral hygiene with  partial denture wearers as more plaque can accumulate when wearing dentures.

Denture Repair:

It is important that if your dentures break or fracture that you get them repaired professionally. Many people panic and then stick them with superglue . This quick fix will not last and it can compromise the fit of the denture and sometimes ruin it beyond repair. There are also chemicals in the superglue that could be harmful. At SB we cut out the old crack and replace with new acrylic.
