We’re looking for the Champions of Chelmsford!

Do you know anyone who goes above and beyond to look after their local environment and make Chelmsford the great place it is? Chelmsford City Council is now accepting award nominations for this year’s Chelmsford Champions Awards.

Created to recognise the extraordinary individuals that make Chelmsford a wonderful place to live, the Chelmsford Champions Awards have been running since 2016 and help celebrate the important part that our residents play in looking after the city.

The awards are open to anyone who lives in Chelmsford and the surrounding borough. This year we want your nominations for those who have demonstrated a commitment to making a positive difference to their community. This could be anything from litter picking and planting flowers to doing something creative or helping others get involved in improving their local area.

We will announce the winners in due course and the selected Champions will be invited to a special ceremony in June at the spectacular Hylands House to receive their prize.

Councillor Jude Deakin, Cabinet Member for Safer Communities, said, “One of the City Council’s responsibilities is to keep the streets looking clean and beautiful. When a neighbourhood is really well-loved and looked after by the people who live there, it makes such a difference – not only to how the place looks, but to how it feels and the sense of peace and welcome that residents enjoy. We want to thank the Chelmsford residents who go the extra mile to show some love to their local areas, so if you know a Chelmsford Champion, please nominate them!”

The awards are part of Love Your Chelmsford, a programme that celebrates the local environment and provides opportunities for residents to get involved, including river clean-ups, volunteering, fun events and competitions.

The closing date for nominations is Friday 8 May. To nominate a Community Champion, please email the Love Your Chelmsford team at [email protected], call 01245-615-800 or message @LoveYourChelmsford on Facebook.
