LoftyFest set for 7th year of rocking and a raising

Loftyfest

It’s with delight that CommunityAd would like to inform our wonderful readers that on the 3rd of September the perfect melange of music, fun, folk and charitable endeavour returns for its seventh year, LoftyFest.

There’s a concept in relationships known as the ‘seven year itch’ it’s a theory whereby the love tends to wither and fade after seven years but that’s not the case for Stella Loftus who still has an enormous passion and love for the festival which she curates alongside husband and musical partner Jim. Each year the festival takes on a new charitable cause or causes as is the case this year. Proceeds of this year’s Loftyfest will be going towards Find a Voice, a charity who pride themselves on their mission of “supporting people of all ages who have severe speech, language and communication needs by providing access to life enhancing advice, equipment and training”, as well as the local Retreat Animal Rescue.

Since the festival conception it has raised closed to £7000 in the name of some well worth charities. In 2017 LoftyFest raised just over £1000 for Alzheimer’s Society and Western Alzheimer’s, the money was split 80:20 between the two charities. These were charities close to our hearts as Jim’s dad John Loftus passed away in 2003 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. In 2018 the festival chose to support East Kent Hospitals Charity – Dementia Appeal (William Harvey) and raised just under £800. The following year in 2019 we raised money for Stroke Association and Headway, raising a total of £1033.50 split 50:50 between the two charities.

Remarkably despite the pandemic and the lack of musical days out LoftyFest still somehow managed to have its greatest financial year. The online event managed to raise a whopping £1660, £830 each for 2 great charities East Kent Strokes and Team Ben Hammond (Cardiac Risk in the Young). 2021’s event was held on Saturday 4th September at The Woolpack in Smeeth raising £575 each for Kent Greyhound Rescue and AGEUK Ashford giving a total of £1150.
