Local Thanet Business Network are raising money for Dementia Week, by an Everest climbing challenge!

 Thanet Business Network are Climbing 8848 metres for East Kent Independent Dementia Support

Local business group, Thanet Business Network (TBN) have organised this event, called the Thanet Business Network Everest Challenge, to help raise awareness and raise funds for East Kent Independent Dementia Support (EKIDS) at the end of Dementia Action Week later this month.

TBN members and friends will be scaling the equivalent height of Mt. Everest (8848m) on Saturday 26th May, using Augusta Steps in Ramsgate as their ‘mountain’.  A team of 25 people will climb the steps 20 times each from around 10am.

The event was organised to coincide with National Dementia Action Week (21 – 27 May 2018) , and hopes to be a fun way to raise funds for a great local charity.

The Thanet Business Network meets every Wednesday at St Augustine’s, Westgate to for members and guests to network and enjoy a full English breakfast (vegetarian option available).

The meetings include a wide range of local companies and are structured but friendly. Meeting at 6.30 in the morning, it is both worthwhile and enjoyable.

About East Kent Independent Dementia Support

East Kent Independent Dementia Support, also known as EKIDS, was founded to support people living with dementia as well as their carers and their families, in East Kent.

EKIDS facilitate a range of support groups, with meetings every month for those with dementia and their carers.

The groups, also known as ‘Memory Clubs’ are facilitated by volunteers all of whom have experience with dementia care.

Dementia care specialists, healthcare professionals and Social Services representatives are on hand at some of the group meetings to answer questions and give advice in a friendly, relaxed environment.
