Local Leukaemia survivor running marathon in aid of Bloodwise

Leukaemia

Ramsgate resident, Jon Vaughan, was heart-breakingly diagnosed with APL Leukaemia in 2013 at just the age of 34.

For a good few years, Jon went on to receive excellent care and treatment for his disease, without which he would not be alive today.

After being in remission for almost 5 years Jon has now been told that his cancer has been alleviated so now he is wanting to do something and give something back.

Jon is aiming to raise a sum of £500 by running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in March 2019.

“I will be raising money for the charity Bloodwise, who fund research in to treatments for all forms of blood cancers. Any donation big or small would be great as this disease affects so many lives.”

‘Bloodwise (formerly Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research) fund research and provide support to improve blood cancer patients’ lives and have changed the world for people with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other blood disorders – they won’t stop until every single one of the 38,000 people diagnosed with a blood cancer each year survives and can live their lives to the full. Your contribution really will make a difference.’
