Local authors invited to apply for Crawley Author Fair

Local authors are invited to take part in Crawley Library’s third annual Local Author Fair.

This year’s event takes place on Saturday 19 October from 11am – 1.30pm.

The fair gives local talented authors the opportunity to book a stall, network with other authors, see their work promoted on screens in Crawley Library and meet with members of the public.

The event will also have a number of other things for visitors to do, including:

• a competition for all ages (adults included) that will get authors and the public chatting about books,
• activities for children,
• a talk by local teen author Eve Ainsworth on her route to publication.

Jacquie Russell, West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Fire and Rescue and Communities, said: “It is great to see that the Local Author Fair is back at Crawley library this year.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for authors of any type of book – including fiction, non-fiction and children’s books – to network with other like-minded individuals; something that isn’t always easy to do in this profession. So if you’re a local author, Crawley library are looking for people like you to take part.”

Last year, authors said “the day was wonderful” and a “welcoming laid back experience”. In particular, they mentioned that they enjoyed sharing their experiences with fellow authors, widening their professional network and spreading word of their books.

The fair is taking place as part of ‘Talk About Reading’ month, a countywide initiative that encourages people from across West Sussex to come together and share their love of books and reading.

Events will be held across the county during October to celebrate great books and authors.
