Decision has been made for The Little Albion Pub in Broadstairs.

Review of The Little Albion Pub

The Little Albion, a lovely family friendly pub in Broadstairs, Kent recently had its license reviewed by Thanet District Council due to applications and complaints by a few local residents on the grounds of prevention of public nuisance.

Since July 21st, Community Ad has closely been following the case to review the premise licence for The Little Albion and a petition was set up shortly after where we managed to get a total of 541 signatures to date in support of the local pub and to prevent the pub’s licence from being revoked.

The Little Albion and the community

We outlined in the petition that:

“The new owner has done a fantastic job of turning the venue around in the past year, however a few residents are asking for this lovely pub to be closed which will mean a loss of jobs and a facility which is enjoyed by many in the local community. The loss of this pub to the majority of locals would be devastating, the entertainment has been fantastic in bringing in both regulars and further afield patrons.
The owner has complied with everything asked of them and is hoping that this will be enough.
Too many pubs are closing, therefore we need to try and preserve this local pub.”

We saw enormous support and backing from the local community around Margate, Ramsgate, Broadstairs and further afield canvassing for the pub to keep its licence and to carry on hosting music events.

Today the Landlord and Licencing Committee have come to an agreement.

A hearing today; September 5th, has seen the Licencing Commitee and landlord of the Little Albion pub in Broadstairs coming to an agreement.

The pub will keep the premise licence and the right to have live and recorded music as long as set conditions are followed. Windows and doors must be closed during music events, music events can only run from noon till 11pm, and no drinks are to be allowed outside the pub after 9pm.

A massive thank you

In response to complaints and the hearing, the landlord apologises for any inconvenience that has been caused to neighbours.

Furthermore, the landlord says a massive thank you to the local community whom have whole-heartedly given him support.

Whether through supporting letters, petition signing, or in person, this goes to show just how far we can go with a strong community that work well together.

Well done Thanet!
