Leas Cliff Hall has today announced it will welcome back audiences on Friday 20th August, providing step 4 of the government’s roadmap goes ahead as planned on 19 July.

After being closed for 16 months, the lights will finally come up and the curtain will rise again, as audiences are welcomed back for a sensational season of world class entertainment.
The theatre is known and loved for hosting a breadth of high quality productions from touring artists, top of the bill comedians to opera, dance and sensational Christmas pantomimes, and this reopening season doesn’t disappoint.
The reopening season will include live music from Black Stone Cherry and Scouting for Girls as well as award winning comedian Adam Kay who will be visiting us twice!

The return of live theatre also sees the return of Leas Cliff Hall’s Price Promise ticket deals. Continuing the theatre’s commitment to making theatre affordable for all, a limited number of tickets will be available for some of the most popular shows for just £13.

Elizabeth Smith, Theatre Director of Leas Cliff Hall said today “We are over the moon to announce our plans for reopening this August! Our whole team have been touched by the support we’ve received from our community over the past few months. We’ve seen how much live theatre has been missed in the region and can’t wait to give the people of Folkestone some much needed entertainment in the safest way possible.”

Folkestone & Hythe District Council Leader Cllr David Monk is delighted the Leas Cliff Hall is reopening, saying: “The entertainment industry has been particularly badly hit by the pandemic and I think I can speak for many when I say the venue has been sorely missed. Missed by audiences, but also missed by the restaurants, bars and other businesses who benefit from it being open. I can’t wait to go the Leas Cliff Hall once again to experience live, top-rate entertainment – it’s long overdue!”

The first show scheduled to reopen the theatre will be from stars of the smash-hit Tony award winning West End musical Jersey boys with The Best of Frankie Vallie & The Four Seasons on Friday 20th August. From there it’s an autumn of captivating one-night productions, Comedy, touring music concerts and our hugely anticipated pantomime Cinderella staring Lee Brennan from Boy Band 911.

The theatre’s Creative Learning program will return in September, offering activities & experiences which engage, educate and empower people of all abilities, ages, genders and races within the venue and local community. Thanks to the government’s Culture Recovery Fund we can continue to be Here For Culture and support our community by delivering some very exciting new projects direct to local schools.

As a See It Safely approved venue, audiences can feel reassured knowing Leas Cliff Hall will always follow the latest government advice, including if necessary one-way systems, sanitising stations and enhanced cleaning. The theatre is now operating a contactless ticketing system with e-tickets being issued to customers within two weeks of their selected performance. This simple change allows the theatre to increase safety and hygiene as well as improve overall booking experience. Visitors can also book with complete confidence knowing that if there are any further suspensions, tickets will remain fully valid for further exchanges or refunds.
