Learn to Tango in Whitstable!

A fantastic opportunity to learn the Beautiful Dance of Argentine Tango in Whitstable from Tuesday 6th September, when Westcourt Tango opens a new Absolute Beginners class from 7.30pm to 8.30pm at Deco 5 Wine Bar in Oxford Street, Whitstable. Teachers, Adrian and Christine will take new dancers through the basic steps and show them how to lead and follow in this wonderful improvised dance. Well known for their friendly and encouraging approach Christine and Adrian have more than 15 years’ experience of dancing Argentine Tango. Having studied and danced tango with world class professionals in the UK, Europe, and of course in Argentina, they are now available to pass on their knowledge and expertise to local people wishing to learn this beautiful dance.

The evening continues from 8.30pm to 10.30pm with social dancing, which is open to everyone. The emphasis will be on Nuevo and Neo Tango music which will appeal to experienced dancers who prefer a more alternative and contemporary style of tango, as well as to beginners who may not be familiar with the more traditional tango music. Admission to the class is just £7 per person, and social dancing is free.

The Whitstable class compliments Westcourt Tango’s regular class for all levels at the Kendall Hall, Nunnery Fields, Canterbury, on Wednesday evenings, where the format is a one-hour class from 7.15pm to 8.15pm covering Tango Fundamentals, Musicality and Technique. This is followed by a Practilonga from 8.15 until 10pm, with social dancing for everyone, along with a space provided to practice steps. Expert guidance is on hand if required.  Admission is just £8 for all or part of the evening.

Westcourt Tango is East Kent’s leading promoter of Argentine Tango, holding classes in Canterbury and Whitstable, and social events in Shepherdswell and Littlebourne.

September 4th is a Big Day for Westcourt Tango as they celebrate their 5th Birthday; five years of teaching Argentine Tango and running social events in Kent. The celebration will take the form of an Argentine Tango Tea Dance to be held in Shepherdswell. Admission to this special event is only £5 per person, £1 for each year of the organisation’s existence!
