Kids go free this August at the Park and Ride

Employment and Skills Board appoints new Chair

Children are being given free bus travel to explore Chelmsford and Colchester this summer after Essex County Council launched its ‘Kids Go Free in August’ Park and Ride promotion.

The promotion allows under 16s, accompanied by an adult, to hop on a Park and Ride bus to Colchester or Chelmsford for free this August.
Cllr Ian Grundy, Essex County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, said: “Summer holidays can be an expensive time for parents, carers and grandparents.
“That is why we have launched this promotion to help allow families to get out of the house and explore what Colchester and Chelmsford have to offer.
“It could not be simpler to get involved: just drive to one of our conveniently-placed Park and Ride sites, park up, buy an adult ticket (or concessionary fare) then hop on the bus with the kids for a fun day out.”
An adult ticket costs £3 in Colchester and £3.50 in Chelmsford with discounts available for weekly and monthly fares. Concessionary pass holders travel free from 9am Monday to Friday and all day Saturdays.
Chelmsford is served by two Park and Ride sites: Chelmer Valley (CM3 3PR) to the north and Sandon (CM2 7RU) to the south.
Colchester (CO4 5JA) has a large site just off Junction 28 of the A12, opposite Colchester United’s Weston Homes Community Stadium.
Services run to and from each site at regular intervals throughout the day from Monday to Saturday. The Park and Ride does not run on Sunday, public holidays and Bank Holidays. visit.
