Kent Vegan Festival 2018 returns to Canterbury
The Kent Vegan Festival was established in 2015 and is an annual event which is growing each year.
Now in its 4th year, the Kent Vegan Festival will be held at Canterbury College on the 12th May 2018.This is a family-friendly, intersectional festival and everyone is welcome. This year it is being held at a larger venue with more green space and areas to sit and relax.
There will be loads of stalls covering all aspects of veganism from animal rights campaigns and rescues, food and food security, health, nutrition and well-being, clothes, skin care and environmental reasons for being vegan. There will be a great range of speakers plus workshops, cookery demos and films, a music stage (with Rudy Warman and the Heavy Weather headlining) and a separate poetry stage.
Plus an even bigger children’s area than before and a teen zone this year with loads of fun, activities and information for young people.
Matt Hoss, their regular comedy night compere, will be also running a kids comedy show and open mic.

As well as this the organisers are now developing a variety of events throughout the year, including a monthly vegan market, a vegan comedy club (Viva Las Vegans) and cookery workshops for different ages.
The aim of the Kent Vegan Festival is to raise awareness about veganism as a compassionate, holistic, healthy and intrinsically non-violent philosophy and growing movement. The events are inclusive and welcoming, with the aim of encouraging all people in their vegan journey.
“We believe in a pro-intersectional approach to veganism. Systems of oppression are interconnected and cannot be challenged in isolation.”
The festival is aimed at people who are, or are thinking about becoming vegan, those already moving towards the lifestyle; or who are just interested in finding out more about what veganism really means.
“Our approach is to be supportive, educational, encouraging and positive: we believe in non-violence to all living beings and in peaceful, friendly, non-discriminatory means of campaigning and communicating our message. We believe that this is the most effective way to teach people about all aspects of veganism and to increase the number of vegans in the world.”
