Kent celebrates Year of Green Action at Kent County Show

Kent County Council’s stand, number 348, will be focusing on Kent’s Year of Green Action at this year’s County Show.

Kent County Council will once again be at the Kent County Show next month (July) focusing on Kent’s Year of Green Action.

The County Show is held at the Detling Showground, Maidstone on July 5, 6 and 7.

The KCC stand will be next to the Astor Ring and will offer a range of interactive activities to encourage people to connect with nature. Practical hints will be available for people so they can take positive action to improve their own local environment.

KCC Cabinet Member for Customers, Communications and Performance Susan Carey said: “The importance of nature and our environment, and the essential role it plays in people’s lives, is increasingly recognised.

“We hope to show people how they can help whether that’s in their own gardens, schools or at work, and reduce our impact on the environment. We’ll also be showcasing some of the work KCC is doing to make Kent a greener and cleaner place to live.”

The stand will include information on the opportunities in the county for people to walk and cycle and promotes KCC’s country parks and the activities on offer.

There will be a pledge tree to for people to pledge to make a change to their lifestyle to improve the environment; and information on wildlife-friendly garden beds and how they can be planted with pollinator friendly flowers.

Last year’s stand took first place for ‘best large trade stand’ after more than 1,000 people chatted with health advisers from KCC and its partners, offering support and advice on how to lead a healthier lifestyle.
