Installation of Tenterden’s new public space cameras begins tomorrow.

Work to replace Tenterden’s public space cameras will begin on Wednesday 3 April, with installation due for completion around Thursday 11 April.

During this period access to some car parking bays will be restricted. On Tuesday 9 April, drivers will be unable to access Bridewell Lane car park via Bridewell Lane. Alternative access to this car park will be via the use of Highbury Lane. Please note CCTV will still be working throughout this period with minimal disruption.

A council spokesperson said:

“Our public space CCTV systems play a vital role in keeping our town centres safe and making them a welcoming place to visit. They provide important evidence to the police and other enforcement agencies both preventing and detecting crime. The new cameras will generate high-resolution digital images that will be relayed to our monitoring centre via the Kent Public Service Network (KPSN).

“This project represents a major investment in Tenterden town centre and will provide even greater confidence in community safety.”
