Heat Hero Congratulated

Dover District Council’s Climate Change and Energy Conservation Officer Amanda Martin has received national recognition as a Heat Hero in the latest awards from fuel poverty charity National Energy Action.

The Heat Heroes Award Scheme aims to recognise individuals who have made a significant contribution to helping people living in fuel poverty in their local community. Fourteen winners from England and Wales were presented with their awards at a ceremony held at the House of Commons last week.  The awards are run by charity National Energy Action and supported by the four gas distribution networks, SGN, Cadent, Wales and West Utilities and Northern Gas Networks.

Amanda is also the Chairperson for the South East Association of Local Authority Energy Officers (ALEO). She represents the South East at national ALEO meetings, and other Government Cross Party Working Groups, and is a key member of the Kent Energy Efficiency Partnership. She is lead officer in the county’s collective switching campaign, Energy Deal, which between June 2013 and October 2018 saved Kent residents over £800,000.

Amanda Martin said: “I am honoured to receive the award and recognition of both the importance of the fuel poverty and climate change agenda, and our contribution towards improving people’s lives.”
