The Hatfield Peverel Neighbourhood Plan is set to proceed to referendum after it was approved at a meeting of Braintree District Council’s Cabinet earlier this week.

Cllr Gabrielle Spray, Cabinet Member for Planning at Braintree District Council, said: “I would like to commend all those involved in the plan. It has been a complex process but they have worked tirelessly to get to this point. It is a comprehensive plan which has the backing of the community.”

Mike Renow, Parish Councillor and Chairman of Hatfield Peverel Neighbourhood Development Plan Executive Committee, said: “We are relieved after a long journey that the neighbourhood plan has now successfully passed through the examination process and can proceed to referendum. We look forward to the plan continuing to gain strength as it progresses through to adoption and from there it will be given the appropriate weight in the determination of planning proposals in the parish. We’d like to thank Braintree District Council staff who have worked alongside us and offered advice, guidance and practical assistance.”

A date for the referendum is yet to be set, but is likely to take place in November 2019.
