Independent examiner’s report on Hatfield Peverel’s Neighbourhood Plan has been published.

Braintree District Council has today published the independent examiner’s report on Hatfield Peverel’s Neighbourhood Plan.

The report, which has been published on the Braintree District Council website, states that the independent examiner has made recommendations to modify a number of policies and text to ensure the Neighbourhood Plan meets the basic conditions and legal requirements.

The report will now be considered by Braintree District Council’s Cabinet on Monday, September 9th and by Full Council after that.

If the examiner’s report is agreed by the council, then the plan can proceed to referendum.

Within the report independent examiner Mary O’Rourke applauded the steering group and the Parish Council for their perseverance saying that they had produced a plan which, subject to some modifications, will influence development management decisions for the next 14 years or until its review.

Cllr Gabrielle Spray, Cabinet Member for Planning at Braintree District Council, said: “It is good to see another neighbourhood plan hit an important milestone and I commend the hard work the group have carried out to get it to this point. I look forward to presenting the report to Cabinet in September.”

Mike Renow, Parish Councillor and Chairman of Hatfield Peverel Neighbourhood Development Plan Executive Committee, said: “Following what the examiner acknowledged as ‘a bumpy ride’ the Parish Council are delighted to have successfully completed their Neighbourhood Plan examination stage, and look forward to continuing the process through referendum to adoption by Braintree District Council. There is confidence that the plan will serve the village well and that it can be strengthened further in the future as periodic reviews are conducted. Sincere thanks are extended to the advisors, volunteers and residents for their hard work and support in creating the plan.”
