The Garden Gate Project Spring Open Day this Saturday!

Local group The Garden Gate Project are hosting an open day on April 14th.

This will be the Garden Gate Project’s first open day of the year and they are inviting the public to join them.

There will be stalls selling Plants, crafts, teas, coffee, cakes, pizza and even nettle soup (tastier than it sounds!).

Plus Canterbury Cathedral will be holding a mask making workshop on the day, prompting youngsters to use real leaves and foliage and craft their own Greenman mask.

For the camera minded there will be Jason Evans photographic workshop; Tool Shed Dark Room.

Also in attendance with be the Margate W.I. and the Margate Caves.

Best of all, the event is totally free!

What is The Garden Gate Project?

The Garden Gate Project Ltd is a community garden focused on the well-being and sense of society within the local community. The garden itself is a 1.5acre walled garden situated in a corner of Northdown Park, Margate. The group is a registered charity who work to help the local community.

On their website they explain:

“We aim to promote inclusion and reduce prejudice by bringing people together whilst supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or mental health needs to engage in meaningful health, educational, creative, social, environmental and leisure opportunities.”

This will be the first event of the year for the group, although they encourage people to stop by the garden at any time.

 

What other events will there be?
  • National Open Garden Scheme:                Saturday 14th July, 2pm till 5pm
  • The Garden Gate Music Day:                     Saturday 21st July, 2pm till 9pm
  • ​’Falling Leaves’ Arts & Crafts Festival:     Friday 5th October, 11am till 2pm – Saturday 6th October, 1pm till 4pm

 

 

The Spring open day will be on: 14 April, 14.00-17.00, Garden Gate Project, Margate, CT9 3TP. Free entry.
