Fundraising to light up Herne Bay gets underway

In our last edition of Herne Bay’s CommunityAd magazine, we brought to our readers attention the noble efforts of the Herne Bay retailers’ group who were responsible for lighting up the town when a very dim Christmas beckoned on the seaside. The Herne Bay Retailers, a core group of seven, meet regularly to discuss issues affecting the town, saved Christmas from darkness with goodwill and generosity and they are at it again this year. Christmas light fundraising is well under way.

Friday night saw some of the towns most talented local musicians such as; Rapturous; The Silent Companions; BODHI Music; Hello Gecko; Lucy Kitt, all perform to merry crowds for free at Vibe. Photographer Daniel Russell kindly documented the night brilliantly with perfect pictures.  The Christmas lights fundraising is a by product of the great community spirit that lives in Herne Bay, it was not only the musicians that performed for free, Vibe provided the fabulous venue for free, Dog House studios provided their services for no fee. New Day Festival donated two free tickets for next year’s festival, the delighted winners of the raffle were announced by M.C. for the night Garry Northwood. The rocking night has allowed for the Herne Bay Retailers group to raise nearly £1000 towards the Christmas lights, so they would like to give a massive thank you to everybody involved. The group have now set up an online fundraising page, enabling anyone to donate via the link below.
