Fundraising auction and raffle for Whitstable Carnival

Before the Covid pandemic struck, I helped to organise a fundraising auction and raffle for Whitstable Carnival with my friend and fellow author, Chris Stone.

Those who came along agree that it was a memorable evening with a poetry recital, songs performed by Reverend Simon Tillotson and over £2,000 raised from bids for items that had been generously donated by local businesses and individuals.

I’m happy to report that due to popular demand we will be staging another Carnival Auction which will take place at St Peter’s Hall in Cromwell Road on Saturday 22nd July at 7pm.

Yet again we are very grateful for the donation of an amazing number of diverse contributions which include a 2-night stay at a local B & B, 6 sessions of hypnotherapy from Helen Margaret at Evolution Health, a one-hour reflexology session with Tracy at the Winding Path, a Gift Box of delicious Mediterranean food from Gift Lounge,  artwork from a number of local artists including Sadie Hennessy, Tracey Falcon and Ruth McDonald – and meals from both The Old Neptune and The Monument pubs. I could go on but suffice to say, there will be something for everyone.

It will also be a cabaret table event (with some wonderful cabaret during the interval) with tables seating eight, on which guests can enjoy their “bring-your-own” drinks and snacks. However, if you cannot fill a whole table, I’m sure we can find a space for you on the night.

Once again, I’ll be auctioneer with the wonderful Graeme Bosley as auctioneer’s assistant – and if you feel you’re unable to bid for auction items you can always buy some raffle tickets which we will sell in the interval – every penny will help.

Also, if you feel you have anything you might like to donate to either the fundraising auction, or the raffle, please let me know.

Chris, Graeme and I all hope to see you there on the night – but remember to get your tickets early before they’re… going… going – gone!

Tickets for the Carnival Auction cost £5 a head and can be bought from Julie by contacting her on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram @JulieWassmer.
