Frimley Health Charity

CommunityAd caught up with the Art & Creative Health officer of Frimley Health Charity, Emma Carr, to find out more about this wonderful charity, goals accomplished in 2019 and future ambitions…

How long has the Frimley Health Charity been going?

Since 1995.

What are your main goals?

Improve patients’ lives.

How would you define the charity to readers?

We enable the NHS to do more. Where resources are limited Frimley Health Charity helps with equipment, enhancing the environment, research and staff training and support.

Were you able to meet your goals for 2019?

We have met some goals but not all.

Our current main challenge is to complete the Stroke Appeal for Frimley Park Hospital by March 2020. We have a further £125,000 to raise to hit our target of £1.07m.

Is there any way the local readers can help get involved in the Frimley Health Charity?

There are many ways that local readers can get involved:

  • Donate
  • Volunteer
  • Ask your company to choose us as ‘Charity of the Year’
  • Make a gift in your will and change the future of health care in the region
  • For more information: www.frimleyhealthcharity.org

What has been the most impressive amount raised since your time at the charity and the most memorable event?

  • Most impressive single gift: £250,000 gift aided resulting in £312,500 from one donation in 2018 enabling us to improve care of neonates in Wexham Park
  • Most impressive fundraising from one event: £78,000 net raised from Race Wexham in August 2019 from many companies and individuals enabling us to provide a sensory play area for children at Wexham Park
  • Most impressive community involvement in one event: 1500-2000 people register every year for Run Frimley raising funds for the highest priority need at Frimley Park Hospital and raising over £170,000 over the past 5 years

Do you have any major appeals at the moment?

Our major appeals at present are:

The Stroke Appeal at Frimley Park raising funds for expanded facilities to help with the treatment and rehabilitation of stroke patients

Fundraising for Creative Health projects across the Trust which will help improve the environment of care at the Trust.

Are there any upcoming events you will be hosting?

The upcoming events are:

  • Film Wexham showing Rocket Man at Pinewood Studios on Wednesday 5th February 2020
  • Run Frimley on Sunday 3rd May 2020 at Frimley Park
  • Run Wexham at Black Park Country Park on Sunday 28th June 2020

Where would you like Frimley Health Charity to be in the next 5-10 years?

In 5-10 years’ time we are planning that our income will have moved from roughly £1.25m/ annum to greater than £4-5m/annum and our funding of projects to improve patients’ lives will have multiplied. We will also develop significantly our research funding and will become the charity of choice in the locality.
