Dealightful Shots by Neil Baker

Neil Baker was born and raised in Deal and has lived here all his life, he doesn’t take a day for granted.

“The people here are very friendly and share a love of our town” and they also share a love of the pictures Neil shares online. CommunityAd had a brief chat with the local snapper.

What do you find aesthetically so charming about Deal and its surrounding areas?

I find Deal quaint and very picturesque, with a rich history which is reflected in its architecture – from Tudor to contemporary, and there is a natural beauty we are very lucky to have – from the shingle beach to rolling countryside, and one of a very few piers left in the UK.

What’s your favourite season as a photographer?

I love all the seasons – each has a beauty all its own – but I do have a particular love of Autumn, especially sunny, crisp days with all the colours it brings.

When did you first pick up a camera? And what inspired you to do so?

I’ve been taking photographs since I was young, and as I draw and paint I have an artist’s eye for compositions, although with such rich pickings around me, it’s easy to capture some amazing shots.

What bit of advice would you give to any novices starting out in photography?

As for advice I’d give to someone keen to start photography, I’d say just get out there – get some fresh air and always have your camera with you, Deal will provide the shots for you!
