As we are approaching the globally renowned Autumnal day that is Halloween, Community Ad has provided a frightfully dangerous amount of creepy events in Kent that you can attend this week and over the weekend.

Some of these events are not be for the faint-hearted but if you’re a fan of everything scary, make sure you attend some of these horrifying nights!

Simple Simon’s Spook Halloween Adventure

26 October, 2017 at the Margate Winter Gardens at 2.30pm (doors open at 2.00pm)

Simple Simon’s Spooky Halloween Adventure is a FUNtastic show starring children’s favourite Simple Simon!

This time, it’s his ‘Spooky Halloween Adventure’: full of Thrills and Spills as Simon, his pet cat Tommy, and Fairy Moonbeam battle Wicked Witch Wilhelma, her Horrible Henchman Grot and their Ghosts and Ghouls to save the day for children everywhere!

This Panto Style show is packed with Songs, Comedy, and lots of Joining In, especially the popular ‘Stage Spots’: where lucky children from the audience are selected at random to take part in games and songs to win small prizes. All in all, a wonderful, interactive afternoon of live theatre for all the family.

Wacky Witches and Wizards at Half Term

24th-29th October at Leeds Castle

This Halloween Half Term find Leed’s Castle’s wacky witches and wizards around the Castle grounds and listen to their spooky tales although beware, they often get themselves in a monster muddle. Their silly sorcerers are making big mistakes, note them on your trail card to be rewarded with a chocolate prize. A spooky quest is available in the Woodland Walk for younger visitors (small additional charge applies).

Find characters hiding across the estate, lookout for Vinnie the Vampire, Gloria the Ghost and Frank Frankenstein amongst others! Dance in the outdoor children’s ‘Monster Mash Ball’ and join the daily fancy dress competition with prizes for the best costume. There will be lots of ghoulish games and frightening fun to be had at Leeds Castle this half term.

Hocus Pocus Open Air Cinema at Bettershanger Park

Join Betteshanger Park this Halloween for a spooky film night under the stars. As darkness descends on the Park on 28th October they’ll be firing up the big screen to show cult family favourite, Hocus Pocus (1993).

Starring Bette Midler (Winnie), Kathy Najimy (Mary) and Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah), the comedy horror follows a villainous trio of witch sisters who are resurrected after three centuries by Max, a Halloween-hating teenager. Max must risk his life to protect his sister and put an end to their reign of terror with the help of a friendly zombie and an immortal black cat.

Betteshanger offers idyllic surroundings for Open Air Cinema. Set in the heart of the Park, both the cinema screen and natural auditorium are entirely uncovered – a perfect way to enjoy evenings in the great outdoors.

The fun doesn’t stop with the movie, there will also be local food and drinks in the festival village tipis.

Step in to The Historic Dockyard Chatham’s Enchanted Garden this October half term, for a week full of magic, myths and captivating fun!

The magnificent grounds of the Commissioners House will be transformed in to an Enchanted Garden from 21st to 29th October 2017 with pumpkin carving taking place in none other than the overgrown greenhouse! Why make a mess at home when you can carve your pumpkin in between the greenery and grapevines whilst looking out across the Enchanted Garden.

Halloween Spooktacular

A spooky week full of family fun and games.

Come along and join in with the family friendly Halloween events as Kent Life is transformed for the spooky season.

There’s pumpkin carving, creepy cuddle corner, spooky farm rides and a daily fancy dress competitions. Are you brave enough to come along and trick or treat in our historic houses? You never know who’s lurking behind the doors!

There will also be fantastic shows in their Big Top – you can see “Mr Boo at the Circus!” on Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd, and then again from Saturday 28th – Tuesday 31st October inclusive.

New for 2017, from Monday 23rd – Friday 27th – you can experience “Nightmare on Panto Street”. A fast moving show starring some of pantomimes most feared villains! There’s plenty of audience participation too.

The Little Monster Hunt at Bluewater shopping centre

Twelve spooky little monsters, including Frankenstein, Dracula and The Mummy, will be on the loose in Bluewater in the run up to Halloween.

Guests can take part for free by picking up a map from the concierge desk outside M&S on the lower mall, and will receive a prize when they complete the hunt.

A trail around the businesses in Broadstairs for children 2 – 11 years dressed in a Halloween costume. Those taking part must have a pre-purchased token costing £2 per child. These will be on sale from 29th September at Expressions and Malcolms in the High Street and the Bottleneck in Charlotte Street. You are advised to purchase your tokens as soon as they go on sale as numbers are limited and this event always sells out well in advance.

The Golden Age of British Horror – Original International Movie Posters.

The 1950s to 1970s saw a dramatic change in British horror. Referred to as horror’s golden age, the period saw actors such as Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing become household names, while the British horror film studios became a major influence worldwide.

From the early gothic style to the infiltration of pop culture in the 1970s, this exhibition takes a look at films from this period and how they were marketed through a collection of rare original lobby cards and posters from around the world. A selection of the museum’s own weird and macabre objects are also on display.

Kent-aminated at Kent Life

27th October – 31st October

Will you survive the apocalypse?

The Zombie Apocalypse is upon us, the once beautiful sites of Kent Life have been ‘Kent-aminated’. The familiar buildings have fallen into disarray, the Big Top transformed into a medical tent to cope with the ever growing numbers of casualties, whilst members of staff fight to defend the historic houses from ruin and provide a place of safety for the people of Kent. You along with your fellow survivors must gather at the Registration Point to be processed before being guided through Kent Life to the Safe Zone, the only way to survive the outbreak. Will you make it out alive?

The first guide will be available at Registration Point F at 7pm with guides leaving every 15 minutes. The last guide will leave for the safe zone at 9pm. Guides must leave on time for safe passage so please ensure to arrive promptly 10 minutes before your time slot, with your registration documents. There is a licensed bar available at the Safe Zone for those who make it to purchase refreshments!

Screamland at Dreamland in Margate

Thursday 26th, Friday 27th, Saturday 28th and Tuesday 31st October 2017
6pm – 11pm each night (no access to the event after 9pm, no re-admittance)

SCREAMLAND is back! A plethora of scares await as the multi award winning attraction returns to the home of Halloween – Dreamland Margate. With a whopping six mazes, the ultimate choice for a frightful time in Kent and the dark side of Dreamland will emerge for six terrifying nights this October.

Be immersed in a frightening world of exhilarating mazes and sideshows at the amusement park, which are set to thrill and haunt the darkestsoul. Screamland is upping the fear factor for 2017 with all-new mazes and disorientating experiences involving vision-blocking hoods and areas that will have visitors crawling through.

Daredevil visitors who are looking for even more frights can book a live and spooky séance at the park, which will be taking place in the Victorian folly building. Tickets to the séance will be bookable on each night at an additional cost.

There will be street performers, live music and DJs on the Scenic Stage – including Radio 1’s Rock Show presenter Daniel P Carter, Rockaoke, and more to be announced. Prepare for all the fun of the scare at Kent’s biggest Halloween attraction. Seeing is not always believing. Little is known about the eerie order of monks who once resided on the site of Dreamland – long before the days of Circus Tycoon, Lord Sanger. Some, however, still practice the archaic rituals and rights passed down through centuries. Locals have been known to disappear from the Margate area, never to be seen again. People say they wander haunted and lost within his ‘Jack in the Box’. Who is Crank Jack and where does he hide? Will you come face to face with him and find yourself trapped in his twisted maze? Or will you be the first to survive?

The Final Cut Presents: They Came From Outer Space – The Last

Step into the movies as you take the starring role in a science fiction screamer! Collect your ticket for Horrorwood Picture House and pass through the silver screen. Become part of the action in an alien adventure as the final cut takes on a whole new dimension in its last ever show. Have you got what it takes to be part of this alarming alien encounter?

Dead and Breakfast: Under New Management – Scare factor 4/5

Last year, Fag Ash Lil moved her murderous boyfriend, Jack Mudget, into her decrepit seaside hotel. One year on and all is not sweet in paradise. Margate’s worst ever accommodation is under new management – but something sinister still lies within…where is Lil? Sharpen your senses and check into the Dead and Breakfast…

Festino’s Festival of Freaks – Scare factor 4/5

Infamous showman Alonzo Festino has fallen on hard times. Killer clowns have overrun his fun house and he has been forced to hit the road – travelling from town to town with his band of freaks and the twisted ringmaster is back at Screamland! Enter the freak show and come face to face with your worst nightmares. Leaving the freak show is not so easy, so prepare to be disturbed – this one is guaranteed to wipe the smile off your face!

Punchinello’s Revenge – Scare factor 3/5

Punch is out for revenge; anyone that has crossed him is destined for a life of endless torture and entrapment for all eternity in the hall of mirrors. Run, scream, try to escape, that’s the way to do it.

Delve into the dark world of Dreamland’s secret prop store. Creep through the store as you discover the park’s mysterious history, where all is not as it seems…

Séance (additional cost, limited, bookable on the night)

Seeking even more scares? Join in for a live séance in their spooky Victorian folly. Set at the back of the park, there are lots of rumours about this original building from the 1800s.
