Ever wanted to watch a Roller Derby? Now you can.

The first home game Roller Derby of the year will take place this Saturday, in Herne Bay.

Roller DerbyKent Roller Girls will be taking on Killa Hurtz Roller Derby on Saturday 31st March, in their first home-game of the year. Although the two teams have had several training games over the years, this is the first time they’ll play against each other in front of a crowd! It promises to be a close-fought battle, with both teams coming off the back of convincing victories.

Roller derby is a fast-paced, hard-hitting contact sport played on 8 wheels. Come along and experience the electric atmosphere for yourselves, at a great venue with plenty of free parking (and a cheap bar!).

Roller derby is a full contact sport played on quad rollerskates. Four blockers from each team try to stop the jammers from passing their hips which is how they score points as they skate around an oval track in periods of 2 minutes called jams. The first person to complete an initial pass of the opposing teams blockers is called the Lead Jammer. Blockers can use their shoulders and hips to remove the opposition from the track, making the game like a hard hitting version of rugby on skates with a human ball!
