Energy switch initiative set to save Chelmsford residents money on bills

Chelmsford City Council is working in partnership with Essex County Council to help save residents money on their gas and electric bills. Residents in Chelmsford are being encouraged to join the Essex Energy Switch which uses people power to secure cheaper deals from energy suppliers.

Registration is open and closes on Tuesday 13 February, before a one-day auction on the same day, where energy companies will battle it out with the cheapest deals. Every resident who registers will receive a personalised offer on Friday 23 February, which details how much they could save by switching to the winning provider, or cheaper tariff.

There is no obligation for any resident to take up the offer. If residents do decide to switch they must contact The Essex Energy Switch by Tuesday 27 March and the organisers take care of the entire switch.

Residents who have taken part in The Essex Energy Switch in previous years have saved on average more than £255 on their energy bills. Councillor Susan Sullivan, Cabinet Member for Safer Communities said: “I am pleased to be working with Essex County Council on this great scheme. I am sure it will help many Chelmsford resident to save on their energy bills.”
