Early bird discount for garden waste service ends soon

Havant Borough Council is reminding residents to sign-up for its garden waste collection service before the end of the month to take advantage of the early bird discount offer.

Residents can sign up via our website at https://www.havant.gov.uk/garden-waste or by calling 023 9244 6023 by midnight on 28 February 2019 to receive their discount for the cost of fortnightly collections from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020*.

The discounted garden waste collection service will cost as little as £1.60 for each fortnightly collection.  The early bird offer to residents, joining or renewing, is a saving of up to £6 on their annual subscription.

Those not able to sign up in time to take advantage of the early bird discount can still join the service at the standard fee.

Councillor Gary Hughes, Cabinet lead for Contracts and Commercial Services, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer this discount to residents who wish to sign up for the garden waste collection service and we urge them to sign up before 28 February, so they don’t miss out.

“Last year our crews collected, from more than 9,900 households, enough garden waste to fill nearly two Olympic-sized swimming pools and that was all turned into compost.”

The garden waste collection service will continue to be run by Norse South East, the joint venture company owned by Havant Borough Council and Norse Commercial Services.
