Dog reunited with family after five years!

safety warning

A family pet has been reunited with its owner after being reported stolen five years ago.

Lunar, a Saluki, was reported stolen from a property in Faversham in October 2013 and five years later, on 22 June 2018 her owner received a call from a microchip company to say someone had tried to re-register her microchip details.

five yearsHer owner then contacted Kent Police to help get her dog back home.

Knowing that Lunar was believed to be in Hastings an officer attended the address on 27 June 2018 and found Lunar. She was able to take the eight-and-a-half-year-old dog and reunite her with the family.

PC Amy Rostron of Swale’s Local District Policing Team said:

‘I’m so pleased we were able to find Lunar and return her to her rightful owners. She is a lovely dog and it’s fantastic that her disappearance has ended in a happy outcome.

‘This sends a reminder to pet owners to ensure their pet is microchipped and to ensure they are up-to-date. If Lunar was not microchipped then she would not have been found.

‘Microchipping is a legal requirement and also helps to reunite lost and stolen pets with their rightful owners.’
