Craig welcomes 24 new British-built single deck buses in Thanet

Craig Mackinlay MP has welcomed the news that Stagecoach South East have launched a brand new fleet of buses in Thanet.

The bus operator has invested £4 million in 24 British-built Alexander Dennis single deck buses that will operate on the Thanet Loop route at the end of the month.

The buses have the latest Euro 6 engines and come fitted with free customer WiFi, USB charging sockets and high-back double padded seats. Over 4 million passengers a year will benefit from travelling on these new ultra low emission vehicles which will displace the current Euro 5 emission vehicles for use replacing older vehicles in the fleet.

Last Friday, Craig was given a viewing of the new bus by Stagecoach South East’s Managing Director, Joel Mitchell.

“Bus services are essential for enabling people to get to work, to school, to access healthcare, to visit friends, or go shopping and so this big investment by Stagecoach South East in our community is very important.

“The Thanet Loop – which will benefit from these truly exceptional British-built single deck buses – is a service that I regularly use and, as a local MP, I am committed to supporting our bus services in Thanet.”
