South Thanet MP, Craig Mackinlay, is supporting the Great Ramsgate Spring Clean, a series of events co-ordinated by the Ramsgate Litter Forum as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean month.

Volunteers and the Maintenance Team from Ramsgate Town Council are cleaning up numerous areas in the town to get Ramsgate ready for the summer.

Today they tackled York Street and the alley leading to Leopold Street along the side Wilko (the national sponsors of the project) and were helped by staff from the superstore and the town’s Member of Parliament.

Craig Mackinlay MP commented:

“Litter blights our towns and roadsides, and spoils our enjoyment of both the seaside and countryside.

“It’s also incredibly expensive, costing local councils hundreds of millions of pounds a year to clear up.

“That’s why the hard work of the Ramsgate Litter Forum and everyone taking part in the Great Ramsgate Spring Clean is so incredibly important and why I wanted to do my bit to help Keep Ramsgate Tidy by cleaning up and replanting in York Street.

“Thank you to the staff at Wilko, Ramsgate Town Council’s Maintenance Team and our conscientious volunteers for all that you continue to do for our town.”
