Consultation

People are being invited to express their views on an initial plan to shape the town through to 2038.

Cabinet councillors last night (Oct 23) approved the first stage of consultation on its new Local Plan for launch on Friday, November 1, running for eight weeks until Friday, January 10, 2020.

Councillor Jonathan Dow, Cabinet Member for Climate Change, said: “This initial document sets out an ambitious vision for how Eastbourne should look, feel and function in 2038 covering everything from developing much needed housing to the local economy and the environment.

“Everyone that contributes to the consultation will be helping to shape Eastbourne’s long-term future.”

The plan applies to the area of the borough that is outside of the South Downs National Park.

This initial document contains six main topic areas: Carbon Neutrality, Prosperous Economy, Quality Environment, Thriving Communities, Housing and Development, and Effective Infrastructure.

Adoption of the new Eastbourne Local Plan is anticipated for late 2021.
