AIR QUALITY – ‘Citizen scientists’ wanted to help

People across Lewes district are being invited to take part in an international project to monitor air quality.

Lewes District Council is encouraging volunteers to help by having an air particulate monitor installed at their home.

Councillor Matthew Bird, Cabinet Member for Sustainability, said: “This is a chance for everyone, young and old, to become ‘citizen scientists’ and contribute to an international project measuring local air quality.

“Improving air quality in our local neighbourhoods is a priority for the Co-operative Alliance at Lewes District Council and an important part of our carbon net zero target for 2030.”

Installation of the monitor takes just 30 minutes and the data it produces is available to view the same day.

A limited number of monitors are available.
