A Christmas event with a twist

half term

After trialling the activity event last year and receiving good feedback from customers, they are once again opening their doors over the festive period. Craig Lindsay, from Runways End, explains “We wanted to offer something different for children, which has an element of challenge and excitement to it, but also links closely to what we provide.

“With our Santa Scramble event, children go on an epic adventure to save Christmas. They try a range of fun activities including climbing, archery and orienteering – with the aim of helping poor Santa who’s locked himself in his grotto. And of course, they finish off with a visit to Santa and receive a gift.”

In this digital age, the event provides the ideal opportunity for children to have a go at some of the great activities available at Runway’s End, with the aim of inspiring them to take up different sports. “These days, we all know the challenges parents face encouraging kids to be active and away from their screens. This is a great way for children to have a taste of the sports we offer,” says Craig. Set in nine acres of woodland and with Basingstoke Canal on the doorstep, the ultra-modern activity centre is providing educational and recreational opportunities for children across Hampshire. Opened in 2011, as one of Hampshire County Council’s Outdoor Centres, visitors can have a go at kayaking and canoeing as well as a caving, archery, climbing, shooting and mountain biking.

Craig explains: “We also offer school holiday activities for children and families, a weekly after school club and birthday party packages, so if any of the children are keen to do more, we can certainly provide it.” The Santa Scramble event is running on 8 and 15 December, 11am – 4.30pm, and costs £14.95 per child. Find out more and book.
