On Sunday 16th July, celebrate some of the arrival of cherry picking season our Cherry Fair. Sample from some of the 320 varieties grown at Brogdale & buy some of the delicious varieties. Learn how to make some beautiful cakes with Mum’s Bakery, or other cherry delights with Village On The Hill and the kids can learn to make a selection of cherry based fancies.

Specialist demonstrations & expert talks run throughout the day ranging from beer making with the Mad Cat Brewery, choosing the perfect Cherry Tree with GROW the plant centre, and the History of Cherry Growing with Jonathan Fryer one of Brogdale’s resident guides.

Enjoy a tractor trailer ride or guided orchard walk, live music or meet the farm animals. Discover kids crafts and fun including rocket launching, facepainting and of course a bouncy castle plus have a go at the traditional games and archery. Sit down for and enjoy food and drink from a range of local suppliers and producers, and join in with the wonderful cherry tasting, and try and break the Brogdale record for the cherry pip spit.

Courses at Brogdale
Here at Brogdale Collections we offer some of the best horticultural & rural courses run by experts from all over the South East of England. As a centre of excellence, we offer a range of courses on fruit – grafting, pruning or orchard design, plus foraging and rural living courses such as keeping chickens and cider making.

24th June – Orchard Design
This one-day course is for anyone thinking of establishing an orchard or becoming involved in a community orchard project and includes a tour of part of the Fruit Collections.

22nd July – Keeping Chickens
This course will guide you through all you need to know about keeping chickens at home. The day will include spending time with some chickens, learning how to catch and care for the chickens and their heath and what to do with all the eggs!
