Chelmsford Local Plan Feedback

Chelmsford City Council is delighted that more than 2,400 comments were made to their consultation on the Local Plan – Preferred Options, which finished in May this year.

All the comments have been captured on the Council’s online Consultation Portal at www.chelmsford.gov.uk/planningpolicyconsult where they can all be viewed. The Council has produced a Consultation Feedback Note setting out the initial feedback.

The Council’s Development Policy Committee will discuss this feedback on Thursday 13 July. Please be aware that it is not yet time for discussions to take place on any proposed site locations at this meeting. The Consultation Feedback Note will simply summarise the number of responses received, and reports on the main issues raised from comments which have been analysed to date.

The Consultation Feedback Note and covering report can be found online at: www.chelmsford.gov.uk/your-council/committees-and-meetings/calendar-of-meetings/?id=d1708c91-5014-4de7-9c37-b89ce05021a7

Leader of Chelmsford City Council, Councillor Roy Whitehead, said “It is essential to fully analyse the consultations and we are continuing to study the feedback to the Preferred Options consultation. The process of preparing a Local Plan can seem frustrating to residents, landowners and Members of the City Council, but unless the procedure set out by Government are followed, the Plan could be found not to be ‘sound’.”

Chelmsford City Council will use the responses, alongside their evidence base and Government policy, to progress with the next stage of the Local Plan. This will be called the Local Plan – Pre-Submission. Updates will be issued on its progress in the months ahead.
