Challenge Dementia competition deadline draws near

The Challenge Dementia competition closing Date is 13th April at 12pm.

Challenge Dementia is a national search for products, technologies and services that could transform the way people live with Dementia across the UK, helping them to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives for as long as possible.

Led by Essex County Council, Challenge Dementia is part of the Essex Challenge Prize programme which seeks to tackle a range of social problems by uncovering potential solutions, and speeding up their development.

Why Dementia?

Dementia can make people feel alone, frustrated and like they have lost their identity. They can no longer do the things they once enjoyed and have greater care needs. This can put an emotional and physical strain on all involved.

The mental and physical well-being of people living with dementia can quickly decline if there is limited support to help them be independent, active in their community and to stay connected with other people. It is important that they are supported to live a life that has purpose for as long as possible.

The challenge

We are looking for ambitious and innovative products, technologies and services that enable people living with Dementia to remain connected to the people and places around them and to maintain their identity.

Ideas should recognise that everybody is an individual with unique past experiences, interests and abilities.

We are particularly interested in solutions that will work now and for future generations, incorporating technology as part of everyday living.

The prize

Ten finalists will each receive £5000 and access to a range of experts convened from across the community, voluntary, public and private sector including PA Consulting and Tech UK.

The winner will get £100,000 to invest in their idea.
