Celebrating British Science Week with Essex 2020

Friday, 6 March marked the start of British Science Week – a ten-day celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths across the UK.

Here in Essex we recently launched our own programme – Essex 2020: a year of science and creativity – and are encouraging you to use the national week as an opportunity to find out more about the science, technology, engineering, arts and maths (STEAM) related events happening on your doorstep.

We’re using the programme to showcase the county’s inspiring history, its amazing present and its exciting future across the STEAM sectors. We’ll also be celebrating some of the biggest STEAM-related achievements, including the 100th anniversary of Marconi’s pioneering telecommunications, 200 years since Darwin departed Essex shores and 400 years since the Mayflower left Harwich for the New World.

Essex 2020 is a collection of over 360 inspiring events – at least one for each day of the year – for all ages and across all corners of the county. So, let yourself be inspired this British Science Week and explore your inner artist, engineer or scientist. View the programme and find out more on the Essex 2020 website, or follow #Essex2020 on social media channels.
