It positions young talent from Kent alongside international names in music and performance. From the quirky to the classical, there’s something for the culture-vulture and fun-seeker alike.

You may have read that Canterbury Festival is no longer part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio. We’re determined to preserve the Festival so your support is more crucial than ever. Book early, bring your friends, consider sponsoring an event and spread the word – your Festival needs you!

Festival Programme Announcement

The Festival programme will be live on the Festival website from 9.30am today. If you have requested a paper copy of the brochure, it will be arriving on your door step before the weekend.

Thank you to Nebulo for their excellent design work this year and Su Swan, whose lino print of the Buttermarket takes pride of place on the cover. We hope you enjoy reading the brochure, as much as we have enjoyed putting it together.

Poet of the Year Anthology Cover 2017

Each year the cover of the Poet of the Year Anthology is based on the previous year’s winning poem.  This year’s picture relates to the lines” In truth, it glows with subtlety: not ablaze” from Love (through lidded eyes) by Jan Syrkiewicz and was created by Zofia Olszowska, a student at King’s School, Canterbury.

Zofia received a £25 prize from our sponsors, the School of English at the University of Kent, for her winning design presented to her by Tony Walder, Chairman of the Friends.

and in other news… Proms at Rochester Castle

Why not make the most of the lovely weather. Our friends in Rochester are hosting a Prom at Rochester Castle. Pack up your picnic and enjoy an evening of classical entertainment. The show will have the audience waving their union flags to the sound of The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
