Bringing Christmas to Detling

As we are now in December it really is now the time to put this Detling village event in your diary for you and your family to begin the festivities of Christmas.

People from Detling village have prepared their windows to put up on Saturday 22 December for 5pm in order for narrators to take people in small groups from the old school building down The Street, stopping at each window to briefly explain the story.  “Live performers” will play beautiful music as you go to enable the real feeling and meaning of Christmas to come to life with characters from the village appropriately dressed to support the stories the windows tell.

The walk itself will only take a maximum of half an hour and please bring your torches as it will be dark as usual with no street lights in the village as usual.

The final scene will take place in the Church where we will have a few carols and then finish with refreshments.  If you  would like to come and/or invite your extended family to attend we would just like to suggest that we try and keep the main roads involved as free as possible of parked cars please being The Street itself and round to the Church just between the hours of 4 and 7.30 pm.   This will help us ensure everyone’s safety on the day.

We are also still looking for help with refreshments and the provision of cakes etc after the event in the Church itself so please do let us know if you are able to contribute something.

This really is an event not to be missed.

With thanks

Sally and the Working Group at Detling
