Candidates planning to stand in the general election on 8 June are invited to attend a briefing session run by Chesterfield Borough Council.

The session will take place on Tuesday 2 May, 7pm at the Town Hall, Rose Hill.

The session will include an overview of the election process for anyone wanting to become Chesterfield’s MP and for those wishing to act as their agents.

Packs containing nomination forms will also be available so candidates can complete them ahead of the closing date for nominations on Thursday 11 May.

Huw Bowen, Chesterfield Borough Council’s chief executive and acting returning officer for the elections, said: “We are holding the candidate briefing session to ensure all potential candidates are fully informed about the election process and, in particular, what will be expected of them ahead of the close of nominations on 11 May.

“The briefing will cover the process from start to finish, including the election count and what happens when the results are announced.”

Anyone interested in attending should contact Julie Briggs, Chesterfield Borough Council’s electoral services manager, on (01246) 345806 or email [email protected].
