- New class programme available to book from 16th September through the Active Life app
- New gym to open by the end of the year
Construction of the brand-new studio space at Whitstable Swimming Pool is now complete. The new dance and class studio officially opened to the public on Saturday 23rd September 2023, with the new gym to open by the end of the year.
The new group exercise studio is just one of the improvements being made as part of a £600,000 investment by Active Life, supported by Canterbury City Council, that will deliver new and improved facilities to all members at Whitstable Swimming Pool by the end of the year.
This studio will offer a versatile space that will be used for group exercise and other community activities. The new class and studio programme is now available, with a wide range of classes for members to book through the App or on the website.
The opening of the new studio is just the beginning! The new gym will follow launching before the year ends. During the building work a temporary gym will be installed to ensure all facilities remain available to members.

Canterbury City Council’s Cabinet Member for Community, Culture, Safety and Engagement, Cllr Connie Nolan, said: “We’re very pleased to see work on these new facilities is complete. It’s an excellent investment in leisure for Whitstable, with more to come by the end of the year, and we really welcome that.
“I hope lots of residents will head along to the open day to try out the studio and classes and see what’s on offer.”
Non-members can come and ‘try before you buy’ at the centre’s Community open day on Saturday 30th September where classes will offered for free for anyone who would like to participate. Classes that can be tried on the open day include, Yoga, Pilates, Body Combat, Body Pump and Body Balance and can be booked on the app.
Whitstable Swimming Pool, and the facilities at the centre, offer more than just a space for members and the local community to come together for fitness and wellbeing but also offers a social space with an inclusive and supportive environment.
