The ensembles, which bring together the county’s most able young musicians aged 11 to 18, are led by Hampshire Music Service, part of the County Council,

Councillor Roz Chadd, Hampshire County Council’s Executive Member for Education and Skills, wished all the members a safe and successful trip. She said: “These young musicians have worked hard all year practising and playing locally, and have been looking forward to these tours for months. Their enthusiasm and musical talent make all their performances a delight to watch – they are a credit to Hampshire, and can be proud to represent the county on the wider stage. These tours will be a fabulous experience for them, reinforcing the value of making music while creating memories that will last a lifetime.”

The four self-funded tours organised for the holidays are:

Hampshire County Youth Band: Tour to Languedoc-Roussillon, France (nine days from 20 July). Concerts at venues including the Campredon Centre d’Art and the gardens of Chateau d’Espeyran in Saint Gille;
