ASHFORD – Safety advice for walkers and cyclists

Coty

Walkers and cyclists using a footpath and cycleway under the M20 in Ashford are being advised to take extra care when using this path as a contractor for Highways England will be carrying out a structural survey in the area.

Contractor AOne+ is expected to start work on 5 March conducting a routine survey of the M20 bridge that passes over the River Stour at the bottom of Heathfield Road. They will be setting up a compound on land owned by Ashford Borough Council to the east of the footpath and cycleway and will placing pontoons in the river as a working platform.

Pedestrians and cyclists are being advised to take extra as there will be construction staff in the area. Warning signs will be posted and the site will be occupied 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The work is likely to run for three weeks.
