Appeal for witnesses after reported rape in Canterbury

Detectives investigating reported rape in Canterbury park have released a description of a man they are keen to speak to.

He is described as being aged around 30, about 6ft and with dark hair. He is believed to have been wearing tracksuit bottoms and a Nike top and possibly also a hooded top.

In the early hours of Sunday 25 September Kent Police received a report that a 15-year-old girl had been raped.

The rape is reported to have taken place in Toddler’s Cove, off Whitehall Road, shortly before midnight on Friday 23 September.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gossett said: ‘We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident and are supporting the victim through this distressing time.

‘We are appealing for anyone who was in the Toddler’s Cove area of Canterbury and saw anything suspicious, or who recognises the description, to contact us.’

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kent Police on 01843 222289 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting reference ZY/34211/16.

Anyone who sees any suspicious activity is asked to call 101 or 999 if a crime is in progress.
