Make over for mini roundabout complete

half term

Improvements to the four-arm mini roundabout at Harts Farm Way, Southmoor Lane, Brockhampton Road and Brookside Road in Havant, are now complete.

Councillor Rob Humby, Executive Member for Environment and Transport at Hampshire County Council said: “Our contractors Colas have finished this important upgrade on time and on budget. The works aim to relieve congestion at busy times and improve safety for all who use the road in that area. I would like to thank Havant Borough Council for their contribution to this project.”

The £400,000 programme of improvements was designed, managed, implemented by Hampshire County Council and jointly funded by our partners Havant Borough Council.

Upgrades to the roundabout include a full kerbed central island to encourage traffic to follow along the correct path through the junction, new pedestrian islands, making it easier for walkers and cyclists to cross the road, new road markings to allow for a better flow of traffic and widened pathways to create two new off-road cycle routes through the junction.

Councillor Lulu Bowerman, Cabinet Lead for People and Communications for Havant Borough Council, said: “This project will ease congestion and make traffic flow safer for all roundabout users, including cyclists, travelling to the Havant South Industrial Estate and Langstone Technology Park. As a key junction in the area, many of our businesses and residents will experience these benefits for years to come.”
