What's on at Brogdale - Christmas is coming 

Sample the delights of the Kentish cherry at Brogdale this July with delicious cherries from the heart of the National Fruit Collection at Brogdale Collections on Sunday 16th July 2017.

Family fun and cherries galore at Cherry Fair this July. Get messy in the cherry pie eating contest, the no hands all fun competition is a great chance for all the family to get stuck in and covered in cherry pie.

Take the cherry pip spit challenge and see if you can break the Brogdale record. The judges will be getting out the tape measure as visitors battle each other for the title for longest cherry pip spit. The whole family can have a go; the record to beat is an amazing 53ft so be ready to take on the challengers at Cherry Fair.

Head to the cherry barn to see the fascinating cherry display and sample yummy cherry tasters.

With over 325 varieties of cherries in the National Fruit Collections at Brogdale there are some intriguing histories, flavours and delights to taste. Sample the “Roundel Heart” cherry grown in Kent since the 1900s and bursting with a sweet flavour, or the “Kentish Red” sour cherry found in Kent since the 18th century or maybe even the usual “Donisssens Gelbe” a juicy yellow skinned cherry sure to stand out.

Discover the fruit filled orchards on a guided tractor trailer or walking tour, Brogdale’s expert & knowledgeable guides will lead you on a journey through the fascinating orchards and their history.

There’s even more going on in the cherry barn with cooking demonstrations from Village on the Hill and Mums Bakery. Get all the hints and tips on making delicious cherry cakes, smokey cherry jam, cherry ketchup and cherry lemonade. The kids can get involved to with children’s “Mocktail” cookery sessions.

Shop handmade crafts by local artists and bring along a picnic to enjoy on the meadow, pick up your cherry selection at the Brogdale Fine fruit shop or top up your picnic with yummy treats from the artisan food stalls and ice creams. Enjoy the fun tunes of the Abbey Banjo & Ukulele group performing live throughout the day.

Alternatively discover all you need to know about keeping your own happy hens at home with Brogdale ’s chicken expert who will be leading a chicken keeping demonstration and be on hand to answer all your chicken related queries with her happy chickens.

Little ones can get stuck into cherry crafts, discover where all the magical cherry fairies have hidden their fairy doors, get their faces painted and have a bounce on the bouncy assault course. Bring along your bravest teddy bears for the teddy bear parachute and have a go at kite making with Kent Kite Flyers.

Get the whole family along to meet the animals at animal corner and cheer on their favourites in the pig racing. Take aim with the archery skills corner or take a ride on the enchanting Faversham Miniature railway through the fruiting orchards.
