Brogdale Collections home of the National Fruit Collection are set to celebrate the first fruits of the season with a summer Strawberry fair on Sunday 11th June 2017- 10am-4pm

Come celebrate first blush of summer at Brogdale with a quintessentially English Strawberry Fair this June. Set your taste buds off with rare & heritage strawberry displays plus strawberry’s & cream,  enjoy all the fun of the fair at Brogdale with a day of summer strawberry fun for all the family.

Strawberry Fair at Brogdale celebrates the first fruit of the season with a country fair, a perfect celebration of the strawberry. Sample the delights of the strawberry with a bountiful selection of rare, heritage & unusual Strawberry’s waiting to be discovered and sampled. Taste & buy strawberry varieties grown right here in Kent including the Brogdale Delicious, the tiny alpine Reine Des Vallees and yummy Mariguette strawberriesBe delighted by the Snow White strawberry, a white fleshed red pip strawberry that stands out from the crowd, plus many more sure to delight your taste buds.

What could be more delightful on a summer afternoon then a spot if afternoon tea in the Strawberry Tearoom. Tea served with a slice of delicious homemade cake, scones or fresh strawberry’s & cream sure to delight. Sip strawberry Pimms on the meadow with your picnic and your choice of fresh strawberry’s while enjoying the lively tunes of local Kent musician Fred Clark.

Get into fun of the fair and have a go at some traditional games with a strawberry twist, play all day and take on the competition. Take aim and have a go at archery, hit that target with a bow & arrow or discover the vintage tractor & machinery display.

Little ones can get stuck into strawberry crafts and discover where all the magical strawberry fairies have hidden their doors the fairy kingdom on the Strawberry fairy trail through Brogdale. Come say hello to the animals in animal corner with the Happy Ending’s Sanctuary donkeys and firm children’s favourite Carlos the goat & friends. We will also be launching rockets and nerf target shooting.

Join a guided orchard walking or tractor trailer tour of the orchards as they begin to burst in to life with the first fruit developing on the trees. Brogdale is the home of the National Fruit Collection and set in over a 150 acres of fruit tree orchard so there really is a sight to see. Tours will take you on a journey around the collection discovering the seasonal highlights and peak fruiting areas of the orchards. Alternatively take an enchanting ride through the orchards on the Faversham miniature railway which never fails to please and delight.

Learn at Brogdale with a packed day of free talks and cooking demonstrations. Discover all you need to know about beekeeping with Canterbury Beekeepers, strawberry & soft fruit growing at home with the Brogdale experts. Village on the Hill will be demonstrating how to make your own delicious chutneys & pickles at home and Canterbury Baking School will help you discover artisan breads, just in time to use all those delicious strawberry’s.

Shop and take home handmade crafts made by local Kentish artists & craftspeople.

Tuck into ice creams, strawberry cakes & luxury doughnuts plus yummy homemade pies, breads, pickles, chutneys and scrummy gourmet hot dogs all from local artisan food producers.
