A Bit about Cheriton

Cheriton, the northern suburb of Folkestone in Kent is the location of the English terminal of the Channel Tunnel and of the major army barracks of Shorncliffe Camp. The British government purchased the land at Shorncliffe in 1794 and fortified it for the expected French invasion. Shorncliffe Redoubt is also significant as it was the birthplace of modern infantry tactics.
