Asda cuts diesel and petrol to 112.7ppl marking a new national price cap

• Asda cuts up to 3ppl off diesel and 1ppl off petrol at its 304 filling stations across the country
• Prices have been effective from Saturday 6^th May 2017

Asda has announced that it will cut the cost of fuel again – the second time this week – with petrol and diesel costing 112.7ppl across its 304 filling stations nationwide thanks to its unique national price cap. The move is the first time that petrol and diesel have been priced the same since summer 2016.

Effective from Saturday 6^th May, motorists will benefit from cheaper fuel prices as wholesale prices continue to fall. The fuel cut will be welcomed by the millions of drivers who have seen fuel prices rise since Brexit because of the sharp fall in the pound.

Asda’s Head of Petrol Trading Dave Tyrer said:
“Asda consistently offers its customers the lowest fuel prices week in, week out and we continue to lead the market on driving down costs for motorists right across the country.

“We’ve dropped the cost of diesel by 3ppl and petrol by a further 1ppl, meaning both are available at the same price for the first time since July 2016. As the only retailer to have a national price cap in place, no driver will pay more than 112.7ppl for their fuel at any Asda filling station no matter where they fill up.”

RAC fuel spokesman Simon Williams said:
“It’s great to see a major supermarket selling both petrol and diesel at the same, national low price as the wholesale prices of both fuels are currently very similar. This is good news for millions of motorists and businesses up and down the country.”
