County Leader Debby presents badge to Leyla

There were 5 different stations for the Romney District Beavers to explore. They learned about Tomahawk throwing; making mint tea; went on a bug hunt; tied knots to make shelters and finally a session on fire lighting. After enjoying a picnic lunch Beavers moved onto finding out about animals’ habitats; bird feeders; whittled a carrot tent peg and made Ladybird bug hotels. County Beaver Leader, Debby visited in the afternoon and was able to present ‘Kent County Team’ badges to Beavers and Young Leaders who helped organise and run the Sleepover.

After an exciting day Beavers then had the opportunity to make new friends whilst doing craft and playing games. Daytime activities concluded with a Cowboy supper – sausage and mash. After dinner was tidied away, everyone then moved to the Campfire area where leaders taught the Beavers a range of songs, including Flies ‘n’ Bugs and a rousing chorus of Campfire’s Burning. All washed down with hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows… and then it was off to bed.

Sunday morning saw the excited Beavers enjoy a breakfast of cereal and freshly cooked pancakes before Certificates and Badges were presented. 10 am arrived all too quickly with parents arriving to collect their children. One parent commented ‘It’s great to see Beavers making friendships which are maintained outside of meetings and they all look out for each other’. A tired Beaver, first time Camper stated ‘This was the best fun ever. I can’t wait for the next Sleepover’.

The Beavers were from 3 different colonies so lots of new friendships were made… oh and they also had time to sleep!!

Well done Beavers and a great volunteer leader team who made this wonderful weekend possible.
