Jack Parker Photography – in the skies of Sussex

Jack Parker and his partner made the move to this heavenly slice of earth from London in early 2019 and haven’t looked back but Jack’s been doing a lot of looking down.

“We love it here and are slowly but surely putting down our roots in this beautiful part of the world. We have our first baby on the way and just think that this must be the best place to grow up.”

Jack tells CommunityAd that it was the fantastic communities that led him to Sussex, “and of course, its natural beauty! I particularly love to be on the Downs at sunrise. There’s something so special about being on the Beacon at this time of the day, with the mist rolling off the sea and the sun peeking over the horizon creating long shadows across the hills. It’s an inspiring landscape to be amongst.”

Jack recalls occasionally using his mum’s 1970s SLR as a teenager, now in his early thirties he rarely leaves the house without a camera. “I often wonder why I have this compulsion to create images. But I think it has something to do with the fact that when I have a camera with me I seem to appreciate my surroundings more. The hunt for a good photograph makes me notice details and colours and textures and characters about the place I’m in more than I normally would. I see the world in greater detail and even though I’m capturing that moment through a frame it helps me to feel closer and more connected to that moment.”

The bright burning passion for photography comes across potently in Jack’s eloquent prose and his skill is there for to see on this page.

“Some advice I’d give to people starting out on their photography journey is this:

“Take your camera or phone with you everywhere and shoot everything you see that interests you. Work out how you can tell the story of that moment or place or person through the frame of your camera.

“Look at the basics of framing. The rule of thirds and symmetry are a good place to start. But always know that you can throw those rules out the window when you want to.”

So what are you waiting for reader, get yourself out there with a camera and be sure to contact CommunityAd when you do.
